From lines to clay: An Architect’s hobby pottery
A little about me.
My journey into the world of art and design began with my career in Architecture. I stumbled upon the world of pottery and ceramics by simply taking a class, sparking a newfound passion within me. As I delved deeper into the craft, I found himself captivated by the intricate processes and endless possibilities that ceramics offered. Today, all of my creations are crafted in my home state of Virginia, where I draw inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds me. With my foundation in architecture and a deep love for ceramics, my work is a harmonious blend of design expertise and artistic expression, guided by my creative process.
I use masking to expose the clay body that would normally be hidden under the glaze. It’s fun to experiment with patterns. I mask patterns on clay akin to creating ‘rules’ only to shatter them with variations of glaze firing; a rebellion against the grid's constraints.
